Imaging and Processing Capabilities

In the HORAO project, we develop a solution using Muller polarimetry to extract microstructural information from brain tissue, allowing us to visualize:

  • The boundaries of tumor margins, even when not clearly visible under white light.
  • The orientation of in-plane cortical and subcortical fiber tracks, supporting surgical navigation.

Real-Time Image Processing Pipeline

Our system includes a powerful software pipeline for processing and visualizing polarimetric images in real-time. Usually, multiple acquisitions are averaged to increase the signal-to-noise ratio. In our pipeline, we acquire data without averaging, which is later denoised, allowing for faster imaging. Other key features include:

  • Optimized parallel processing of the acquired data.
  • Real-time tissue segmentation and classification using deep learning.

Try it yourself!

Run a simulated acquisition session by pressing the Start Acquisition button below. Once the images are loaded, you can visualize the results of the segmentation and experiment with the different parameters and overlays to see their effect in real time.
